Hot.

They stopped the Rotterdam marathon today, too many people suffering from heat exhaustion. More than ten people hospitalised.
This is April in the Netherlands...
It's surreal.
Lately, it's the one temperature record after the other that is broken.
Today, the temperature should reach over 30 degrees C.

Surreal!!!

My dad says, bring it on... Costa Hollandia.
He likes this global warming thing, he never liked the cold.

I dont like this.
I hope enough people are perturbed, that they collectively can pressurise government(s) enough, that measures are taken. Okay, if it starts here and does not include the USA or China, it's a start. Whatever measures are developed and tested here, can perhaps be used by those countries later when they have no more choice. But to do nothing because they are also doing nothing, is simply unacceptable. We are no longer in kindergarten!

Meanwhile, I'm firing up the barbeque and enjoying my first braai of the season :)

Holiday!!!

Thank heavens, I'm finally on holiday for a few weeks.
Coming Monday, I'm going to Boijl for a week.
(Google it, ya lazy bugger!)
After that, possibly the Wadden Islands. One of them at least. Still not decided which one.

The weather looks to be glorious.
I'll be offline for a while which might do me good.
I'm getting too sucked in to the gloom and doom of our times.
Time to just lie back in the grass and listen to the bees bumble from flower to flower.
Walk the beach and let the wind decide my direction.
aaaahhhhh...

Edit: week two is Texel, De Koog.
I've really missed the place, I havent been back since I left. I hope the wind and salt water and relative quiet (not tourist season yet) will soothe me. I probably wont want to go away after spending a week there...
(damn, it's for this reason that I usually walk away from places and people and dont ever go back)

NGO's...

She simply nails it!
What's been truly bothering me for a very long time about so many of these charities, NGO's.

Consultants, fatcats wallow in that money, living the good life while parading as good Samaritans. And in the end, nothing changes... and we shake our heads and talk of corruption in those kinds of society.

Light bedtime reading

The latest IPCC report: you can download the Summary for Policymakers here.

Keep in mind the scientists' findings were quite watered down on some fronts by the contributing bureaucrats (mainly, from China, USA, Saudi Arabia) which totally infuriated some of the authors. After all, you dont do science by polls, you measure, test, review, publish.

But, here it is. approved by scientists and bureaucrats from various governments alike,
the gentle version.
